[Japanese Movie Review] DEATH NOTE Light Up The New World

10 years has passed since the confrontation between Kira and L. Again, Shinigami sends Death Notes to the ground, and due to this, the world soon falls into chaos. Mishima (Masahiro Higashide) is a member of the Death Note special task force with 6 other investigators including Matsuda who was involved in the Kira case 10 years ago.

Mass murders caused by the Death Notes take place in the U.S., Japan and other countries around the world. World famous private investigator Ryuzaki (Sosuke Ikematsu), who is the rightful successor of L, joins in the investigation. They discover that 6 Death Notes currently exist in the world.

A computer virus called Kira soon spreads throughout the world. A message in the Kira virus says to turn in 6 Death Notes.

Watched DEATH NOTE Light Up The New World with my church pals yesterday evening! We were anticipating to watch it ever since then!

Personally, the film had a interesting plot that stands on its own. The story build up may appear rather slow-paced. However, it got better with its clever strategies and suspenseful plot. If you are expecting similarities to previous installment, this sequel may disappoint you.

This film had an unexpected twist towards the finale which heightened the show. The hidden truth then began to piece up to enlighten viewers. Trust me, watch it with an open mind. It is not as bad as what it may seems.

2 days 1 night JB trip

JB trip with pals 2 weekends ago! We decided on our 1 night stay at Swiss-Inn Hotel. Other than the inconvenience to the hotel & lack of toiletries, I have nothing negative for my stay there.

 Matcha (Green Tea) Bingsu

Injomi bingsu

We had out bingsu fix at 설원 - Seol Won! This dessert store was opened by my friend - Jasmine & her boyfriend. It tasted pretty good & it was nicely prepared with fine ice. Do comeby and give it a try!

Then, it was laser battle time! My first time playing & I certainly enjoyed it pretty much! Sometimes, it is never about the winning or ranking but the company! I do not mind playing it any time soon!

Had our dinner at Selera Senibong seafood! The food tasted normal but it was affordable. Particularly, I enjoyed the black pepper crab.

After which, we watched Dr strange. Back to the hotel, we had some rounds of boardgames before our sleep!

Had shoulder & foot massage at King Spa & Massage. After the session, they would served you a cuppa of tea. Overall, the massage was decent though it could have been better.

Dinner was at Paik' Pan! We ordered the spicy dakgalbi pan (Chicken) with Cheese! Thank God that it was not too spicy was pretty appetising. It was a nice balance of the cheese and spicy sauce that complement well with the chunks of chicken!

[Media Invitation] Japanese Michelin-starred ramen eatery poised for international launch

In January 2012, owner Yuki Onishi opened Japanese Soba Noodles Tsuta in Sugamo, Tokyo. The name of the shop originated from the notion 'Ramen is a noodle dish that Japan is proud of'. Having received numerous Ramen rewards since 2012, Tsuta was the first in the world to be conferred a one-star Michelin ramen shop. The truffle oil Shoyu Soba being its specialty.

Tsuta, the world's only michelin starred ramen eatery, launch its 1st ever overseas branch in Singapore! Tsuta was awarded the prestigious accolade in 2015, and remains the only Japanese ramen eatery in the ranks of renowned Michelin-starred restaurants. Singaporeans will be able to savour the award-winning taste of Tsuta right here at home.

The same delicious offerings that have delighted the palates of gourmands and critics in Japan will be on the menu at Singapore’s 18-seater, 1000-sq-ft outlet.

Chef Onishi insists on handmade noodles on-site at Tsuta, in keeping with his philosophy of preparing ingredients by hand to ensure the safety and quality of the final products. Chef Onishi has also specially selected a blend of several types of whole wheat and whole grains flours to achieve a perfect texture in the noodles, which marry well with that of the ramen soup base.

Patrons get to choose from 2 types of soup bases: Shoyu soba; Shio soba, as well as Miso Soba which would be introduced at a later phase.

Shio Soba

It comprises a chicken-seafood blend that is bound to delight.
The shio broth is created by adding a careful balance of Okinawa sea salt and Mongolian rock salt.

Shoyu Soba

It features the piquant black truffle sauce and is a bowl of in dulgence.

The soy base is created from a special blend of shoyu that includes Chef Onishi’s shoyu which is formulated in-house, as well as 2  custom-brewed shoyu made in Wakayama Prefecture to Chef Onishi’s specifications from whole soybeans that have been matured for two years. This unique blend of shoyu perfectly complements Chef Onishi’s dashi (soup stock) recipe, made with whole chickens, vegetables, clams, and other seafood ingredients.

The dashi is simmered under carefully controlled temperatures to bring out the umami flavours of the ingredients. This unique dashi-shoyu forms the base of Tsuta’s ramen broth, imparting natural and umami flavours.

Tsuta’s current menu (Prices are inclusive of GST and no additional service charge) offerings include the following:

Tsuta Singapore is committed to bringing the same exquisite taste and careful presentation to diners in Singapore.

[Movie Review] Doctor Strange

"Doctor Strange" follows the story of neurosurgeon Doctor Stephen Strange who, after a horrific car accident, discovers the hidden world of magic and alternate dimensions.

Watched Doctor Strange with pals last weekend at JB City Square Cathay Cineplex.

Personally, I felt that this film was compact and entertaining that stands on its own. Honestly, with such commendable introductory, I was anticipating a convincing story-line. However, it lack certain substance in the entire plot.

Nevertheless, the cast played their given roles well. There were good balances between action and humour scenes which heightened the story. Not to forget the visuals and bending space which reminded me of Inception.
