Li Zhongcheng was a HDB officer in the 90s. Thirty years later, his son Yiwei follows his path and reconnects with childhood friends Fang Ying and Daping. Ying, a renovator, resents her absent father, while Daping is a scammer. Yiwei reunites with his long-lost brother Jiewei, only to face his revenge - and learns he caused Ying’s misfortunes.
I recently finished watching the Singapore drama Brighter Days (家的守护星), and I have to say, it was quite a heartwarming watch. The story was pretty good and relatable, especially for Singaporeans, although some parts in the middle felt a little draggy.
What I enjoyed most was how the drama gradually revealed the hidden truths and agendas behind the characters. The later episodes became much more interesting as more secrets unfolded, making me want to keep watching to see how everything would turn out.
The cast also did a great job with their respective roles, and their performances really brought the characters to life.
Personally, I'd say Brighter Days is one of the better Singapore dramas I've watched this year. And did I mention the theme song? It's catchy and good that it stayed in my head even after the drama ended.
