[Japanese Drama Review] My Lover's Secret (Aishite tatte, Himitsu wa Aru)

When Rei Okumori (Sota Fukushi) was in the 3rd grade of middle school, he killed his father to protect his mother Akiko (Honami Suzuki). His father physically abused his mother. They buried his dead body in their yard and made it appear he went missing. Since that time, they kept they their secret and did not tell anyone.

8 years later, Rei Okumori is now a law school student and pursuing his dream of becoming a lawyer. At his law school, he meets Sawa Tachibana (Haruna Kawaguchi) who hopes to become a public prosecutor. They fall in love and Rei Okumori wants to marry Sawa Tachibana. He begins to receive a message from someone that knows his secret.

Finished watching this Japanese series - My Lover's Secret (Aishite tatte, Himitsu wa Aru). Personally, I felt that the story had a smart plot which kept me in great suspense.

Particularly, I enjoyed the progression in each episodes, which led me to ponder and followed it closely. It was indeed mysterious and suspenseful. Not to forget, those emotional scenes that was beautifully presented. The drama also had an unexpected twist towards the finale which heightened the show.

It also depicted an unconditional mother's love. A mother could basically just do anything for a child, to protect and keep him safe and happy. Based on the final episode, most likely, there will be a sequel to this series. Am certainly looking forward to it!

[Movie Review] Geostorm

After an unprecedented series of natural disasters threatened the planet, the world’s leaders came together to create an intricate network of satellites to control the global climate and keep everyone safe. But now, something has gone wrong—the system built to protect the Earth is attacking it, and it’s a race against the clock to uncover the real threat before a worldwide geostorm wipes out everything... and everyone along with it.

Watched Geostorm with Trois at the GV Plaza yesterday night.

Personally, I felt that the film had a focused story-line but somewhat, predictable. Initially, it may appear draggy but thankfully, the progression of each scenes gradually got better with a conducive plot. Honestly, there wasn't many intense elements injected, but instead it was suspenseful and precise as a whole. Hence, don't pin too much hope on that area.

Also, the humour and emotional scenes were nicely presented. Especially, the kinship between two brothers and father/daughter. it reminded viewers not to hold grudges tightly because ultimately, family will be always there for you. Daniel Wu's cameo appearance definitely helped this film score well with his good acting capabilities. Overall, a rather good natural disasters movie!

Hailing from Gifu Prefecture, Japan, Katsu-don Hanakatsu offers indulgent katsu don at affordable prices. The pork and chicken are marinated with a special in house blend, and then coated with bread crumbs imported from Japan. The katsu is fried with a water fryer to perfection, and then sprinkled with aonori as well as traditional shichimi spices that lend a robust flavour.

You can choose to go with either Nanatsuboshi Hokkaido Rice or kick up the health factor by choosing to add 16 multi grains to the rice. Both the rice and multi grains are specially imported from Japan. A luscious ankake home-made sauce drenches the rice and imbues a sweet note.

Sitting atop the rice are three slices of specially marinated pork and chicken . The marinade is a special inhouse blend, while the breadcrumbs are imported from Japan. The restaurant uses a special water fryer, brought in from Japan, to fry its katsu. The exterior is superbly crunchy and enticing. Then, they are drizzled with special tempura sauces. It was definitely a pampering session and the whole process was carefully attended. Using a special sequence of Softlight 905nm and Gamma Nano mists to improve the absorption channels of the skin and carry the active ingredients deep into the skin.

The combination of lights at different wavelengths to heal the skin cells via cold infrared light accelerates the metabolic process and an infusion of hydrating boosters through a Cold Nano Mist which imbue hydrating properties to hydrate and plump thirsty skin. The shoulder massage was on point too.

[Movie Review] The Foreigner

The Foreigner starring Jackie Chan and Pierce Brosnan, is a timely action thriller from the director of “Casino Royale.” The film tells the story of humble London businessman Quan (Chan), whose long-buried past erupts in a revenge-fueled vendetta when the only person left for him to love -- his teenage daughter -- is taken from him in a senseless act of politically-motivated terrorism. In his relentless search for the identity of the terrorists, Quan is forced into a cat-and-mouse conflict with a British government official (Brosnan), whose own past may hold clues to the identities of the elusive killers.

Watched The Foreigner with Gary at the GV Plaza.

Personally, I felt that the film had a focused story-line but somewhat, predictable. Even though the story flow did not turn out well, it was still engaging with such a suspenseful plot. It appear to be rather slow-paced, and definitely better if those dialogues were doubled. Each of every characters has their own agenda for their own benefit as well.

Jackie Chan's fight scenes was as good as before! I've got to agree that it was an important element injected. This film had an unexpected twist towards the finale which heightened the show. The hidden truth then began to piece up and enlighten viewers. Trust me, watch it with an open mind and you would enjoyed it more.
