[Media Invite] Savour PUTIEN Yellow Croaker in FIVE different ways

PUTIEN is proud to present five new dishes with its latest “golden” ingredient - the Yellow Croaker. The Yellow Croaker is a fish from Ningde, a seaside city nestled in the coastal province of Fujian, China. The Yellow Croaker has a golden belly that shimmers in the moonlight, and flesh that is meaty and mildly sweet to the taste.

The Chefs at PUTIEN took several months in inventing different cooking methods for Yellow Croakers to bring out its best flavour, and are proud to present their final creations to their customers. The freshness of the fish that PUTIEN uses, coupled with the clever cooking techniques developed to maximise the sweetness of the fish without compromising on the texture of the flesh, are what makes the Yellow Croaker dishes unique.

'100-second' Stewed Yellow Croaker

This is a dish where revolutionary cooking technique has been proudly researched and produced in the kitchens of PUTIEN. The fish is flash-stewed at precisely 100 seconds to preserve the tenderness of the meat, which is often compromised with conventional steaming techniques that require at least 8-10 minutes.

 Stewed Yellow Croaker Rice

This Stewed Yellow Croaker Rice, is a traditional favourite that is cooked in the traditional Hakka style with no shortcuts, to preserve the fullness of flavour. The flavourful dish is thoroughly infused with the richness of the Yellow Croaker, as the bones of the fish are first carefully brewed into a hearty fish broth.

Pan-fried Yellow Croakers

Pan-fried till golden brown and then slowly stewed with special house sauce to perfection.

Yellow Croaker Soup with Cauliflower

Chunks of marinated yellow croaker are coated with tapioca starch to retain the natural freshness of this dish.
Deep-fried Yellow Croaker

Marinated with premium peppercorn and sea salt for 24 hours, then deep fried till tender on the inside and crispy on the outside.
Available at all PUTIEN outlets from now till 30th November 2016.

[Japanese Drama Review] Soshite, Dare mo Inaku Natta

He is a brilliant system engineer who is an up-and-comer at his company. In his private life, he has a fiancée. Just when he was at the pinnacle of joy, he suddenly disappears from the face of the earth. "No, you're not Todo Shinichi." Even the name on his official family registry and certificate of residence has been changed. His bank accounts have been seized and his employment has been terminated on grounds that he is a missing person. Without an official family registry, he can't even get married. Did someone set him up? The suspect begins to emerge... Although Shinichi was left with nothing but loneliness, he won't allow himself to go down this way. He won't give up, no matter how much he is betrayed. He will keep believing in people. No matter what happens to him, he will not succumb. "I will uncover the truth, regardless of what it takes." No matter how many times he falls, Shinichi will get back up. -- NTV

Decided to catch this film - Soshite, Dare mo Inaku Natta (Lost ID) because Fujiwara Tatsuya in it! Oh well, its my kind of drama hence, I will watch it anyway.

Personally, the story was refreshing and kept me in suspense! Though it may appear rather slow-paced, the build up was nicely depicted with the many evidence in subsequent episodes. It had an unexpected twist towards the end, which was smart.

Also, never put all your trust in people. Sometimes, the one who you trust so dearly could betray you that you least expected. Even in such circumstances, we got to learn to forgive and not let anger lead you to do evil things.

"It's easy to turn to the dark side, it's remaining true that's difficult. It's easy to hate people, it's forgiving that's hard. But everyone forgives someone, lives together with someone."

[Invitation] The First-Ever WAmazing Race at Wisma Atria

Last weekend, I challenge myself at Wisma Atria's first-ever WAmazing Race, where Nic and myself pit against 3 other teams to search for five checkpoints and complete the tasks in the shortest possible time!

Wisma Atria, one of the well-established shopping malls in Orchard Road, has lined up an exciting wave of culinary concepts and lifestyle retail offerings as part of the mall’s continuous efforts to enhance its shoppers' experience. With the renewed retail offerings, which include several first-in-Singapore concepts, they aim to create refreshed dining and shopping experiences for their loyal and new patrons, while strengthening Wisma Atria as one of the best lifestyle malls in the heart of town.

If you not already know, Wisma Atria whets your appetite with new dining options. Opening in the last quarter of 2016, one of the most exciting developments in the F&B scene, is Picnic, located at Level 3. Designed to recreate the energy and vitality of outdoor dining in a dynamic ever-changing urban park within the mall, diners are promised a fully immersive dining experience. It provides a range of international cuisines, including American, French, Italian and Japanese. In addition, it will also feature an in-house third-wave coffee bar and cocktail bar.

Joe & the Juice makes its debut in Wisma Atria this month as well. Serving an array of organic coffee, freshly made fruit and vegetable juices and rye bread sandwiches, this contemporary Danish cafe offers a funky and healthy-packed experience to shoppers grabbing a breakfast bite or a lunch-to-go. Fans of the popular bubble tea brand, Gong Cha, may now set their sights on its newest outlet at Wisma Atria, opening in September at Basement 1. It will join the ranks of other food cluster favourites, such as Llao Llao, Ben's Cookies, Garrett popcorn and Famous Amos.

There are more reasons for dessert lovers to celebrate this December, as Fruce, a coconut-based dessert-in-a drink shop, and Eyescream and Friends, a new-to-market Spanish ice cream brand, open at Basement 1. Fruce, which is created from the combination of the words ‘Fruits’ and ‘Fusion’, amalgamates tropical fruits with coconut as the key ingredient, favourite local desserts and homemade toppings, to create their signature series of beverages.

The mall also offers more lifestyle options. FitFlop has opened their new store at Level 1 to offer exciting ergonomic sandals, shoes and boots using world-class design, a splash of fashion and a continuous innovating mix of beauty, brains and top-notch biomechanics. For a touch of beauty indulgence, ladies can spend some me-time or BFF-time at Qoosh Nail Spa, a new manicure and pedicure service, which has opened for business at Level 3.

Visitors from overseas can present their passports at the Concierge Counter on Level 1 and receive a $10 F&B voucher when they spend a minimum of $50 nett in a single receipt. In addition, they are also entitled to redeem a 3-day Tourist Privilege Card that entitles them to discounts and special offers at participating stores in Wisma Atria.

Thanks Wisma Atria and Word of Mouth Communications for organising such fun activity!

[Crowdfunding] Singapore Men’s Floorball

Singapore Men’s Floorball is embarking on their exciting journey towards World Floorball Championship 2016 this coming Dec in Riga, Latvia. We have all seen our Olympic and Para-Olympic champions, Joseph Schooling and Yip Pin Xiu emerging victorious in swimming.

Would Singapore Floorball attain such heights?

Singapore Floorball has been on a steady growth locally. Many youth players in the schools scene have grown to learn and love this sport. However, as the support system is still in work-in-progress, our national players have to SELF-FUND their way to Europe!

After the past few years of renewing a new group of youth players into the team, currently with the dedication of the coaching staff, the team comprises a healthy balance of youth and experienced as they enter the final preparation towards the tournament. With the trip, each of them (including coaching staff) have to cough out approximately $3k. This figures include their airline, accommodation, food, recovery food, first aid and travel insurance – essential costs that cannot be avoided.

If you believe in Floorball, mostly importantly, if you believe in Singapore Sports, kindly offer your support for Singapore Men’s Floorball by clicking into the crowdfunding link below and contribute any amount you can. Many Thanks in advance!

[Korean Drama Review] W – Two Worlds

Oh Yeon Joo is a surgeon whose father is a famous comic book creator. One day, her father goes missing and she rushes to his workshop to look for him, and instead finds a strange man, Kang Chul bathed in blood. She is kidnapped by him and taken to a different dimension.

Finished watching this Korean Drama - W – Two Worlds. Personally, I felt that this drama had a refreshing and interesting concept as a whole. Be it the human or comic world, you got to watch closely to understand the flow of the story.

The introductory was nicely developed which kept me going. With the unexpected scenes, it led me to ponder the next scene in line, as a audience. The climax only got to a certain level at later episode, for this already good drama.

Honestly, the finale was predictable for such a romance show. I was expecting something different out from it. All in all, it is a drama you may consider to catch!

OPERATION CHROMITE SPECIAL PREVIEW

The movie talks about South Korean Navy Special Forces, Captain Jang Hak-soo and his 7 members disguise themselves as a North Korean inspection unit. Their mission directives from Gen.MacArthur are: 1. infiltrate the North Korean army command center in Incheon and secure the mine chart, 2. kidnap ‘Ryu Jang-choon’, the second highest ranking North Korean officer, and 3.

Was invited as one of the bloggers to catch Operation Chromite special preview! I brought my church mentee along.

Personally, I felt that the film was well-crafted and compact as a whole. Initially, it may appear confusing with such brief introductory. Subsequently, it got better with a relatively good plot. Unlike typical war movies, this one here focused on a Korean war film about a covert operation that sets up the invasion.

It got interesting to see how both countries came out with their plan to fight this battle. It was a well-planned strategies indeed. The many intense moments kept me at the edge of my seat as well.

The fact that this film is based on true events heightens the drama of the invasion. I believe it educated me in many aspect that I least expected.
