Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip Movie Review

Through a series of misunderstandings, Alvin, Simon, and Theodore come to believe that Dave is going to propose to his new girlfriend in New York City and dump them. They have three days to get to him and stop the proposal, saving themselves not only from losing Dave but possibly from gaining a terrible stepbrother.

Watched Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip with poly-mates during the weekend!

Personally, the story is light-hearted and entertaining that stands on its own. Though it revolves on the same few characters, it was still quite enjoyable with the nice chipmunks Christmas carols presented. A simple yet fun-loving film for the young and old!

[Invitation] Zingrill Food Tasting at Chef's Noodle and Korbi Grill

Chef's Noodle having two outlets; Jurong Point (Korean Street) and Harbourfront center! Korbi Grill is only available in Jurong Point (Korean Street) and being the first to cook steaks on hot lava stone! You may wish to know that these 2 restaurants are not certified halal.

Ribeye Steak

The hot lava stone will cook the ribeye steak for about 20 minutes. However, you may start slicing it according to your preferences (medium or medium rare). The beef was firm and juicy in texture.

There are 12 different sauces for you to go along with it! I am sure there will be a few sauces that would suit your taste bud! Particularly, I prefer the red wine Jus warm sauce because it goes perfectly well with the steak!

Rice Cake

Braised pork ribs stewed in Champong Stock

The broth itself tasted rather spicy without much flavour. However, I adore the tenderness of its braised pork ribs that literally melts in my mouth.

Berry Joy Cocktail

I enjoyed this glass of Berry Joy Cocktail pretty much. It tasted not too sweet nor blend for me. A glass of cocktail that is unique and stands on its own.

These are their Christmas items which will be available from 16th Dec 2015 to 3rd Jan 2016!

Kimchi Jjigae Served with River Prawn

The broth of the dish tasted spicy yet has a sweet/sour taste which is rather appetising. The size of the river prawn is huge and has a good texture. If you adore the taste of Kimchi, you will love this dish more! This is one of the Christmas item that is available from 16th Dec 2015 to 3rd Jan 2016!

[Blogger Invitation] Exclusive invite to Attap House Food Tasting Session‏

Opened in July 2015, ATTAP HOUSE is located at #01-04 Fusionopolis Galaxis, 1 Fusionopolis Pl, Singapore 138522.  The 80-seater with both indoor and outdoor seating area, offers an eclectic menu serving a wide range of Asian inspired food and beverages. This brand new F&B concept offers diners an authentic and nostalgic F&B experience with its unique concept and interesting Nonya & local favourite delights.

ATTAP HOUSE boasts a range of side dishes like Assam Fish, Otah Otah, Sambal Kang Kong and even Tahu Goreng. For tea break, snacks and breakfast, they have their home-made Otah toast, freshly-made peanut butter and nonya kaya toast.

Otah Bun

Nothing would go wrong with this combination. Otah accompanied with the well toasted bun.
This dish certainly opens one appetite.

Assam Fish

Sweet and slightly spicy sauce which draws the crowd for non-spicy fans out there. It could have been better if the fish is steam longer for better texture and taste.

Satay Mee Hoon

The satay gravy is not too strong in flavour and has a slightly sweet taste, which complement well with the Mee Hoon. The texture of the Mee Hoon is okay though it could have been better.

Braised Hokkien Noodle

An authentic plate of braised Hokkien Mee.
One may adore or dislike for its own classic taste. You may wish to give it a try!

Grilled Pork Chop Sambal Fried Rice

The grilled pork chop itself tasted good though slightly sweet for me.
However, it goes well with the sambal fried rice.

Cashew Nut Fried Rice

This plate of cashew fried rice with chicken breast is good!
The cashew nuts and chicken meat certainly bring more flavour to this dish!

BoBo ChaCha

If you prefer a milky taste then I believe you will enjoy this dessert more!
It could have been better if it is served slightly more chill for better taste.

Waffle with Kaya and Peanut Butter

Peanut butter or kaya for you? I would prefer the peanut butter for this one! However, I feel that this waffle has a rather crisp exterior. Hence, the texture could have been better. If you adore a crispy waffle then I think you might like this more.

They also implemented a Delivery service where customers can call 9052 2669 to make an order. Call service is between 9am to 11am, 2pm - 7pm only. Delivery is free if the order is above $30.

[Media Invitation] Famed Nan Hwa Fishboat finally unveils second outlet

Nan Hwa FishBoat (Nan Hwa), one of the oldest fish head steamboat restaurants in Singapore, has unveiled its second outlet along Owen Road. The restaurant has been in existence since 1927. After 88 years and long queues at the flagship branch at North Bridge Road, the second outlet is finally opened!

Champagne Pork Ribs

I adore the tenderness of its meat that is nicely prepared The champagne flavour is light and pleasant as it is not too sweet to indulge.

Prawn in Golden Pumpkin Sauce

The pumpkin sauce surprisingly goes well with the crisp-fried prawns! A rather pleasant dish as the flavour is not too strong yet flavourful!

Dragon Grouper Fish Head Steamboat

Patrons can enjoy premium live Dragon Grouper and Potato Cod Grouper fish head charcoal steamboat in a traditional setting at Nan Hwa Fishboat Owen Road outlet.

Shan Lao Hor Fun

This is one authentic dish you got to give a try!
It gives me a homely feel while enjoying this particular dish.

Stir-fried Sambal Sotong

An appetizing dish that is nicely prepared. The spiciness of its sambal tasted good
(not to strong) and the texture of the sotong is chewy!

Drunken Rice Wine Clam

A rather creative dish for the night. If you are adventurous enough, you can consider giving this dish a try as it bring out a special yet unique experience.

[Sponsored Post] The Best of Asian Food Under One Roof - Jurong Point

Jurong Point has embark on a focused F&B campaign promoting “The Best of Asian Food Under One Roof” to introduce its various precincts, for shoppers that are not residing in the West.

Dine and collect “immigration stamps” from the participating precincts and stand to WIN air travel packages! You may want to collect the passport at the customer service counter and to collect stamps today!

I get the opportunity to try out a few eatery at Jurong Point! They are Shabu Tontei, Woo's Ricebox, Thai Express and Putien.

Shabu Tontei at Jurong Point is a specialty shabu shabu restaurant offering an assortment of premium meats such as Japanese kurobuta (black pork) and Japanese wagyu to ensure the best gastronomic experience. This is 1 of the participating precinct where you can start collecting your stamps!

As seen above, this is a set for 2 ($33/pax). It consists of Japanese black pork collar & belly served with a choice of soup base (Tori Paitan, Tonkotsu, Wadashi & Pirikara Yuzu), assorted vegetables, chawanmushi, rice, souzai & fruit.

The Tonkotsu soup based tasted quite salty but it no doubt added flavour to its black pork collar & belly. Particularly, I adore the chawanmushi for its silky texture that is not too flavourful and light in flavour.

Woo Rice Box is a well-known brand of over 70 years and has more than 200 stores in Taiwan. It originated in Chihshang Township which was a major railway interchange in Taiwan, Taitung. There is a wide array of riceboxes ranging from braised, fried to healthy selections.

I managed to try the following dishes-:

1. Pork Chop Ricebox - $ 9.90
2. Spicy Drumstick Ricebox - $8.90
3. Braised Minced Pork Ricebox - $6.80
4. Double Boiled Soup - $4.50
5. Salt & Pepper Popcorn Chicken - $4.20

Particularly, I adore the salt & pepper popcorn and spicy drumstick ricebox. The meat is nicely marinated with good texture (Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside).

Thai Express is inspired by the needs of customers who want to dine amidst a relaxed yet contemporary ambience with no strict rules on decorum, still enjoy fantastically authentic Thai cuisine and at very reasonable prices.

I managed to try the following dishes-:

1. Massaman Curry Chicken served with Thai Pancakes - $13.90
2. Phat Thai Seafood - $12.90
3. Tom Yum Seafood Soup - $ 9.50
4. Curry Soft Shell Crab served with Jasmine Rice - $12.90

Particularly, I enjoy the curry soft shell crab w Jasmine Rice for its unique flavour that stands on its own.

PUTIEN brand traces its roots to its namesake city of Putian – a beautiful coastal suburb in Fujian, with rich cultural history and storied tradition since its settlement over almost one and a half millennium ago. It is, after all, the birthplace of the goddess Mazu and the fabled Southern Shaolin Kungfu, among many other legendary tales.

I managed to try the following dishes-:

Seaweed with Mini Shrimps $7.50
Stir-fried Yam $12.90 (S)  $18.90 (M)
Deep fried Pig’s Trotters with Salt & Pepper $5.90/pc (Minimum 2 pcs)
Fried Heng Hwa Bee Hoon $8.90 (S)  $17.80 (M)  $26.80 (L)

Particularly, I adore the Stir-fried Yam and Fried Heng Hwa Bee Hoon. The yam cubes are beautifully presented with a crisp exterior. The texture is tasty because only the middle and best portion of the premium yam are used.

Unlike other dried bee hoon, Putien Bee hoon is the only sundried vermicelli milled by hand. Hence, the texture is chewy yet not brittle. The rich and milky stock of pork bones and old hens certainly add more flavour to this dish.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 Movie Review

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2 brings the franchise to its powerful final chapter, in which Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) realizes the stakes are no longer just for survival - they are for the future.

Watched The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2 with my poly friends yesterday evening! Previously, there is The Hunger Games and The Hunger Games - The Catching Fire & The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1.

Personally, I feel that the show is good and compact on its own. The introductory depicted is rather slow-paced, without any special element injected. However, it got slightly better with a good story build up.

The story flow could have been fine-tuned with a more convincing plot. As certain scenes presented are rather brief, it may appear difficult for some viewers to get the gist of it. Hence, you have to watch closely and study it in order to truly understand the entire film.

The finale is predictable but it provided a good closure for the fans of The Hunger Games!

May Who? Movie Review

Pong (Bank – Thiti) is a high school geek who belongs to a group of high school outcasts known as the ‘Invisibles’. He enjoys letting his imagination run wild, drawing cartoons of a girl he likes. He doesn’t have the guts to ask her out because she belongs to a more popular clique in school. Pong’s cartoon illustration is the reason he gets to know a schoolmate named May. A nickname, so common for Thai girls that whenever anyone talks about a girl named May, whoever is listening will ask, “May who?”

Watched May Who? with Ting Feng yesterday night.

Personally, I feel that the story is refreshing and entertaining that stands on its own. The way of expressing love is usually through letters. However, this film depict a creative method, which is through comical drawings. Each chapter in its drawing has a imaginative yet wild concept for a girl that the person adore. It also triggers certain memories one may encounter during high school.

The story flow well though it could have been more refined with a consecutive plot. The many humourous scenes certainly liven me up as a viewer. However, some of its humour elements seems 'trying too hard' for me.

Particularly, I adore the character - Pong, who has a positive attitude in his love life. Despite whatever outcome, He decided to do his best and woo the girl. The touching moment is presented towards the finale, when May has to make a decision between the two.

This film may have a predictable plot but it was fun to watch!
