[Media Invitation] Launch of Eggs & Berries' New Menu

Eggs & Berries is where gourmands can dig into hearty American classics served in generous portions. Only natural and fresh ingredients are used in the restaurant. All dishes are handmade by a line-up of dedicated chefs. True to the restaurant’s moniker, eggs round off the dishes. Diners can have their eggs done in one of four methods: over easy, poached, scrambled or sunny side up. For pancake and waffle lovers, diners can find different menus featuring in-house soft and moist small pancakes that are served with three types of sauces: Maple Syrup, Chocolate Sauce and Strawberry or Raspberry sauce. The mouth-watering waffles are crispy on the outside and they are served with a scoop of ice cream — but they taste equally good with butter and maple syrup!

Was invited to a media tasting: Launch of Eggs & Berries' New Menu at Westgate last Tuesday Evening! This cafe is cosy with a rather good ambiance.

Yuzu Crab Salad

A great combination of garden greens, crab meat, cherry tomatoes and other ingredients in one dish. It tasted quite decent though I felt that the more salad dressing should been included for better tasting experience.

Basil & Prosciutto Di Parma

My favourite tasting dish among the rest! I liked the omelette because it was nicely done with good texture. It tasted not too flavourful for my taste bud. This yummy omelette is topped with fresh basil, delicate prosciutto ham and juicy tomatoes!

Eggs Florentine

The dish above tasted pretty good. The poached eggs are nicely prepared though I felt that more hollandaise sauce could have been added to enhance the taste. The smoked salmon tasted rather salty but no doubt that it goes well with the eggs and English muffin.

Frutti Di Mare

If you prefer a more flavourful dish, I think you will like this dish. Personally, it is too flavourful for me. No doubt that the gravy is unique and classic but it can be rather overwhelming after a while.

Passion Fruit and Banana Souffle

An interesting flavour that is not common elsewhere I guess. If you are adventurous enough and wish to have a blend between sour and sweet, you may want to give this a try.

THE DIVERGENT SERIES: INSURGENT MOVIE REVIEW

THE DIVERGENT SERIES: INSURGENT raises the stakes for Tris as she searches for allies and answers in the ruins of a futuristic Chicago. Tris (Woodley) and Four (James) are now fugitives on the run, hunted by Jeanine (Winslet), the leader of the power-hungry Erudite elite. Racing against time, they must find out what Tris’s family sacrificed their lives to protect, and why the Erudite leaders will do anything to stop them. Haunted by her past choices but desperate to protect the ones she loves, Tris, with Four at her side, faces one impossible challenge after another as they unlock the truth about the past and ultimately the future of their world.

Watched Insurgent with Trois earlier on in the evening. Previously, I watched Divergent as well. In comparison, I prefer the previous installment for its compact story-line.

Personally, I felt that the show was okay though below my expectation. Initially, it started off rather promising but down the hill with its weak plot presented. The story flow was quite messy and could have been more refined. Nice action and intense scenes that certainly bring this film to another level.

Though the finale ended quite abruptly without much depth, I enjoyed watching the scenes where Tris managed to overcome the challenges to unlock the truth about the past; that was remarkably presented.

Was invited to a media tasting: Launch of Miam Miam's Lunch Exécutif Menu at Westgate last Tuesday Evening! I liked the layout of its restaurant that was classy. A good place to chill with friends and loved ones.

Miam Miam Spaghetti

Modern Yaki

Arrabiatta

Among the 3, I adored Miam Miam Spaghetti the most because it was very appetizing and not too flavourful for my taste bud. It may appear to be a normal 'egg' spaghetti but it has a good combination of poached eggs, bacon and tomatoes that complete this dish!

Modern Yaki and Arrabiatta tasted quite decent as well. These 2 dishes are slightly more flavourful for me. If you like a stronger taste, I guess this will be your pick.

Teriyaki Chicken Sandwich

BLT Sandwich

Between these 2, I adored the Teriyaki Chicken Sandwich because the meat tasted tender and pretty juicy. It was well marinated and goes along well with the toast. BLT Sandwich was okay but the honey mustard dressing was quite overwhelming that I could not taste the bacon.

Riz au Curry

Riz Noir

Between these 2, I adored Riz Noir (Squid Ink Black Rice and Scrambled Omu Egg) because the dish itself was rather classic on it own. The scrambled omu eggs was nicely done as it was moist and fluffy! The squid ink surprising goes well with the black rice and omu eggs! Riz au Curry tasted okay but the curry lack in flavour as it was not as rich as expected. Good that broccoli  was added to this dish.

Matcha Souffle

Valrhona Chocolate Soufflé

These 2 Soufflé tasted pretty good! Though slightly moist and airy on the inside, the texture on the outside was nicely done. Personally, I prefer the Matcha Souffle but it still depends which flavour suits your liking as both were nice!

Matcha Red Bean Cream Pancake

This dessert here has nice visual that look pleasant. However, I thought that the texture could have been better. If it was more fluffy, it will certainly better.

Munch Saladsmith & Rotisserie Food Tasting

Was invited to Munch SaladSmith's at Novena Square 2 last Sunday afternoon!

Look at the spread of choices that consumers can choose from!

I chose the ham sandwich, rosti and salmon! Rosti tasted okay though I felt that it could have been more crispy for better texture. The salmon was good and and not too flavourful for me but it was slightly dry.

The spread of food that we (bloggers) got from the selection!

Personally, I liked the ham sandwich and scrambled eggs pretty much! The sandwich was stuffed with ham, cabbages, cucumbers and tomatoes; not too much nor little but easy for one to indulge. The bread just goes along well with this combination. It was nicely presented as well. The texture of the scrambled eggs was nicely done as it was not too dry but fluffy and moist!

The lovely people that I met during the event!

Run All Night Movie Review

Brooklyn mobster and prolific hit man Jimmy Conlon (Neeson), once known as The Gravedigger, has seen better days. Longtime best friend of mob boss Shawn Maguire (Harris), Jimmy, now 55, is haunted by the sins of his past—as well as a dogged police detective (D’Onofrio) who’s been one step behind Jimmy for 30 years. Lately, it seems Jimmy’s only solace can be found at the bottom of a whiskey glass. But when Jimmy’s estranged son, Mike (Kinnaman), becomes a target, Jimmy must make a choice between the crime family he chose and the real family he abandoned long ago. With Mike on the run, Jimmy’s only penance for his past mistakes may be to keep his son from the same fate Jimmy is certain he’ll face himself… at the wrong end of a gun. Now, with nowhere safe to turn, Jimmy just has one night to figure out exactly where his loyalties lie and to see if he can finally make things right.

Watched the film - Run All Night with Ting Feng yesterday night! Personally, the show was watchable with a decent plot though it could have been more refined.

Initially, the story started off slow with dialogues and its historical background which appear quite confusing and dull. However, as the story continue on, I got to piece up the mystery with its flash backs and truth from the characters. From there, its build up and climax to its plot started to spice up this film.

Honestly, I was touched by Jimmy Conlon (Neeson) gesture for protecting his son Mike Conlon (Joel Kinnaman) despite his previous mistakes. Through the adventurous journey with him, He kept reminded him not to kill anyone and let him finish the job.  Even till his last breath, He still persevere to save his child.

A good suspenseful film to catch!

Chappie Movie Review

Every child comes into the world full of promise, and none more so than Chappie: he is gifted, special, a prodigy. Like any child, Chappie will come under the influence of his surroundings – some good, some bad – and he will rely on his heart and soul to find his way in the world and become his own man. But there's one thing that makes Chappie different from anyone else: he is a robot. The first robot with the ability to think and feel for himself. His life, his story, will change the way the world looks at robots and humans forever.

Watched Chappie with Trois at night earlier on. Personally, this film was simple and rather refreshing on its own. However, the plot was quite a disappointment as it lack substance. Though certain humour elements were injected, I felt that some appear lame to me. The build up in the middle was okay but it went down the hill with such a finale.

It depicted about jealously in a workplace where one could use despicable methods just to achieve their goal. This area is something for viewers to ponder and grow, not to be such a person. Many emotions put forth was commendable. It also shows the importance of relationship that one could easily relate.

Eggs Ben on Toast with Salmon @ Loysel's Toy

Had Eggs Ben on Toast with Salmon at Loysel's Toy. The hollandaise sauce that has a peppery taste goes along well with the poached eggs, salmon and bread. A rather good combination that make this dish an appetizing one. The hot mocha that I ordered was pleasantly good as well.
